The Step 'n Go is propelled by the rider standing on two treadles with flat non-slip 'stepper pads'. The two treadles are connected; as the rider steps with one leg the other treadle automatically comes up, placing the opposing leg in the power stroke position. This allows riders who have difficulty lifting their legs to propel the Step 'n Go. This reciprocal motion is more natural - similar to walking - than the 'round and 'round cranking motion of the pedals of a typical bicycle.

Riders operate the Step 'n Go with a stepping action, or by shifting their weight from side to side. The patented treadle transmission automatically responds to the rider's natural range of motion allowing short, long or uneven strokes. This flexible action makes it usable by a wide variety of riders. For those who have very limited leg strength, we offer special low gear ratios, which make it easier to propel the cycle and experience the thrill of forward motion with minimal input.

The Step 'n Go can be operated at a range of speeds, from very slow - barely moving along - to speeds fast enough to excite the adventurous rider. This makes it suitable for the cautious new rider, in controlled settings, as well as fun for the more skilled. All of these features add up to a biking experience that is enjoyable and accessible.
